Sharing ideas on Risk, Human Performance, Teams and Leaders

Please join us for Risky Business: Embracing Uncertainty this coming November. This will be a different conference on risk management in healthcare, and promises to challenge how we think, what we know and above all, to inspire change. The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto has supported and sponsored Risky Business conferences for the past decade as part of their commitment to safety and quality, and are very pleased to once again be involved with the next Risky Business conference in Toronto.

Mistakes continue to be made that lead to patient harm, and it is clear that risks in healthcare don’t go away. We continue to practice with degrees of uncertainty, and perhaps we need to embrace this to understand new risks and the interaction between technology and humans. Themes for the conference will include:

  • What’s artificial about the Intelligence?
  • Ethics of risk
  • Law and risk
  • An avalanche of risk
  • Parents and patients reflect on risk
  • Planes, trains, automobiles and an incubator
  • Getting to the bottom of things…Human error in Volatile Situations
  • Decision making: Managing uncertainty and how we work and adapt
  • Preparing for the unexpected
