Complementary publications to the spark: live webinar “The Coach Approach: Supporting Families of Children with Disabilities" now available
Complementary to the Children’s Healthcare Canada webinar “The Coach Approach: Supporting Families of Children with Disabilities” presented by CHILD-BRIGHT (www.child-bright.ca) SPOR Network last year, two scientific papers are published and could be accessed to gain more information about the topic of coaching and to clarify the concepts that were discussed during the webinar. The commentary “Coach, Care Coordinator, Navigator or Keyworker? Review of Emergent Terms in Childhood Disability” provides an operational definition of coaching, overviews the differences in terms related to coaching and outlines the various types of coaching used in childhood disability. The review “Health coaching for parents of children with developmental disabilities: A systematic review” presents the level of evidence on the effectiveness of different types of health coaching for parents of children with disabilities in improving parent- and child-related outcomes, and provides future directions for research and practice in that area.
