Quick facts about TBRHSC. They are:

  • A world-class acute care facility with 375 beds, including:

    • 12 Paediatric inpatient beds, 14 NICU beds, a paediatric outpatient department, a Maternity Centre, 18 bed Maternal Newborn Unit and a 7 bed Labour & Delivery department, and 3 outpatient assessment beds

  • A teaching hospital, affiliated with Lakehead University and Confederation College

  • A host training facility for students from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine

  • One of the largest employers in Thunder Bay with nearly 2,800 staff, 500 volunteers and 100 Patient Family Advisors

  • One of the Top 40 Research Hospitals in Canada. the Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute houses the region’s only cyclotron and radiopharmacy, capable of producing medical isotopes for clinical use
